Chase is 11

My sweet Chase turned 11 on January 4. Every year his birthday sneaks up so fast after Christmas, and this year seemed especially chaotic since he came down with strep on New Year’s Day! Luckily, he rallied and by his birthday was feeling quite a bit better! He got to go out to breakfast with his dad, before being dropped off at school early for a meeting.

This is our “off year” for birthday parties, but I did let him have some friends over the weekend after his birthday for a little late night. The boys watched a movie, played some games, ate tons of snacks and seemed to have a really good time! On his actual birthday we sneaked in a birthday dinner with salmon (his favorite) and chocolate cake, after a full day of two separate robotics meetings and a basketball practice. That describes life with him right now- BUSY!

Update on Chase at 11 years old:

  • He’s an avid reader. I don’t even know how many books he’s read this past year. He got a kindle for Christmas and his nose has been deep in that ever since. He loves to learn from books and read a bunch of fantasy, comics and historical fiction.
  • He has so many extra curricular activities right now! He has piano lessons every week (he’s doing amazing!), basketball, robotics and activity days. I feel like I’m always shuffling him to the next thing! He wanted to do the school play too, but he (maturely) made the decision that he’s got too much going on right now to add it.
  • He has the kindest heart. He is especially quick to forgive and quick to admit fault. Sometimes this has been a bad thing, as he takes on way too much fault than he should!
  • He’s deemed 5th grade the best year ever. Between the economics fair, Veterans program, an awesome teacher and fun field trips coming up this spring, he really hit the jackpot this year!
  • Wakes up every morning at 6:20, immediately gets ready and I find him on the piano at 6:30 on the dot starting his practice time.
