This is how I feel about the impending change about to happen in our lives! I am so excited to move on to the next stage, actually have us both graduate from college (in two months!) and move on to bigger and better things. However, I know that part of me will miss this stage. Ben and I have had such a fun couple of years being newly wed students in Provo. We've enjoyed the time we've had just together, the wards we've been in and the friends we've made. One thing I know I'll miss is our little apartment. It's small and pretty simple, and it's the first and only home we've had together. I love this little apartment.
This is what I see when I walk in the door
This is our awesome family room, complete with an old couch my parents had in storage. My brother Will wants this couch really, really bad and has come to visit it a few times since we moved it to Provo. The center part folds down into a little table with drink holders, perfect for eating breakfast on Saturday morning while watching HGTV.
This is our little kitchen table we found second hand on Craigslist. It's been perfect for us. This is where Ben and I braved the adventure of Courtney learning to cook.
My little kitchen. This is the oven where last February I blew up Ben's birthday cake (who knew cake could do that? Apparently if you use self-rising flour it does....it was like a chocolate volcano inside my oven) and had to make another cake after a quick run to the store to get regular flour and oven cleaner. Luckily the second cake went much better.
Lastly, our little bedroom. That completes the tour of the Hugo apartment. Mostly I wanted to post this for my own memory of this little place. It's had it's annoying little quirks, like the fact that sometimes we can hear exactly what is going on above/below us (the first year we lived here the people below us fought a lot, Ben and I knew way too much about their personal lives), and that the only heating/air conditioning unit is in the front room and requires a system of strategically placed fans to get cold/warmth to the bedroom, but we've loved it. It's been a wonderful home.
Oh, I definitely wish I had better pictures of our first apartment (yours is waaay cuter, though). I can attest to the comfortable-ness of that couch as well. And if I had a cake blow up in my oven, I would definitely have given up and bought one, so you are a superstar wife. Also, those cookies look verrry good! Also, I like your shower curtain and your bedspread!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I'm pretty sure the singer is Darius Ruckers... I love me some country music!
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way leaving our first place. You comments about the shower curtain made me laugh! We wish you guys all the best!
ReplyDeleteI love how you included the strategically placed fans... SO true!! That place has major ventilation/temperature issues!
ReplyDeleteOkay for some reason I'm really emotional right now and reading this made me teary eyed! I miss that place and having you as my neighbor! I don't know if you know that we have you to thank for us living there--Ben mentioned it to Derek when we were looking for a new place. I'm so glad he did!
ReplyDeleteUm, I'd give my left arm for your kitchen counter space. JEALOUS
ReplyDeleteIt's true. You so will. Darryl and I were just reminiscing with fondness about the little white tile in our bathroom of our old townhouse. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you documented your place. Though I love our house and the sweet babies that live here with us, I do miss the life we had when it was just us. Wouldn't trade what I have now, but I have SUCH fond memories of that time. Enjoy these next few months!
Love you!
