Choosing a Name

From the second we found out I was pregnant we already had a little girl's name picked out. We had no idea what we would name the baby should it be a boy. We talked about it a lot over the next 12 weeks until our ultrasound with really no agreement on what his name should be. The only name we both really liked was Jackson, but we felt like there are a lot of Jacks and Jacksons right now and decided against it. I loved the names Lincoln, Easton and Sawyer (Ben was absolutely against all three of them). He liked Collin, Brady and Sam, which I was okay with, but didn't fall in love with any of them. We also both really liked the name Landon, but my cousin has a little boy just two years older than our baby named Landon who is possibly the sweetest, cutest, happiest baby ever. I was afraid our baby would be the "not quite as cute Landon" or the "not quite so happy Landon." This was just too much pressure for a little kid.

When we found out our baby was a boy we were both shocked, but so excited. On the way home from the doctor appointment we concluded that this would probably be one of those babies who doesn't have a name until well after he's born.

Two days later I was laying in bed early in the morning and I thought of the name Chase. I really hadn't considered it before, but now that I knew my baby was a boy it just felt right. I mentioned to Ben over breakfast. Ben nodded his head and said, "Chase, I like it. Chase Anderson Hugo." And just like that, it was decided. We started calling my baby bump Chase and it just felt like his name. Once I saw him, he looked just like a Chase to me.

Anderson is my dad's middle name, so used that to name him after my dad. I love my dad, he's one of my heroes. I'm so glad we got to name this sweet little boy after him. Chase already has my dad wrapped around his little finger (well, all of us really...) I really can't blame him. How could you not fall in love with this sweet face?

  2. Cute pictures! I agree, he looks like a Chase. It's funny how they just fit they're name once you see them :)
