The start of summer!

Davis began summer by showing every single person who would look his kindergarten memory book. He loved admiring his own artwork and receiving praise for his cute pictures and handwriting progress!
As always, we spent a lot of time at the pool. The summer had a cool start, but every day that was even decently warm, we tried to make it here!
Hudson begged to hike this summer! Our kid who used to hate hiking. He now loves it. We went on a “hike” which is really more of a nature walk on this beautiful shady trail in Kaysville. The kids were all so sweet and pleasant the whole time. I love being in nature with them!

However, this was exactly how far we got before Davis declared he was tired. Note, you can still see the van in the background. Luckily he turned it around pretty quickly!
In our efforts to give each child more one on one time, we started a weekly “date” system. Every Friday, Ben takes one kid to breakfast. Then during the week I take a different kid on a lunch date. It’s been the best! I’ve loved this time with each of them. Hudson chose Zupas as his spot the first time. It doesn’t matter where you take Hudson, he’ll order a grilled cheese and then rank it.
Our little diva headed off to church. She’s just the cutest.
Ben, working on his laptop, in the shade of our cherry tree. June was the most pleasant weather. While it wasn’t always warm enough to swim, it was absolutely delightful to do just about everything else outside.
We had the best zoo day! We went with Nana and Kate and the girls and her mom. It was such a fun crew. The kids love being with their cousins. Chase was an awesome helper with pushing strollers or carrying tired kids. The animals were active. The crowds were low. We stayed 4 hours!

Lila still loves her lamb towel. It’s meant for a baby and is pretty small for her now, but she still loves it and it’s adorable.
We had another fun Nana outing with the cousins to the TreeHouse museum. The kids had the best time!
We pulled off an awesome surprise in June! We hosted a retirement party for my mom. I’d been working on planning it for months, along with Heidi and my dad. I recruited Lindsay to help me make it all cute (which it turned out so cute!). My mom thought it was just a party with those of us who live locally and her siblings. Well, we actually invited a bunch of her friends too. And we flew Heidi, Nate and Halie in for it! It was the best surprise and the party turned out so great. The weather was perfect. The food was delicious. The decor turned out darling. And the company was wonderful. It was so fun to celebrate this huge milestone for her!

Since we had Heidi in town we got to enjoy a fun weekend with her. She quickly won Lila over with more makeup from Paris and stick on earrings. Davis just always enjoys a Heidi snuggle sesh and was so happy to see her!

We took another hike up Baer Canyon one morning (somehow without Chase, and I can’t even remember why he wasn’t there…) It was beautiful. This hike is steep and more strenuous but we just went slow and really enjoyed the beauty up there!

Lila’s been helping me garden a lot. Our garden is doing so well this year! I simplified and just planted beans, cucumbers and tomatoes, and it’s going great!
I turned 35! I took no pictures on my actual birthday, but my favorite memory is from the night before. Ben took Chase (post baseball game) and Hudson to Target to shop and they came home with cupcakes they bought (with lit candles in them) singing happy birthday and presenting me with the gifts they’d picked out.

Hudson: Mom! We got you salad supplies!

Chase: We know you LOVE salad!

It just made me laugh. I do love salad. And I love that’s what they thought of!

We had a beautiful night up Big Cottonwood canyon with my mom’s side of the family. Chase was so darling holding Ella’s little Jack, who was a little fussy all night.

While the boys could swim for long stretches, Miss Lila gets cold pretty fast and prefers to sit poolside and have snacks. So we’ve had a lot of pool snacks this summer.
