- I don't have many clothes that fit me right now, so I don't want to waste them being packed away for the next two weeks until the baby comes (that is unless he comes tonight....)
- Things like my make-up, toothbrush and our camera I am going to be using a lot in the next few days, these seems like things I'll have to throw in at the last minute anyway.
- I don't want to take a lot of stuff to the hospital with me. When I was working on labor and delivery I hated it when we were packing 5 bags with us just to transfer the lady to postpartum. I want one, small, simple bag. Hence, I don't want to pack anything that isn't really necessary.
- I have picked out in my mind what small, easy to carry around bag I want to take with me, but I have yet to locate it in my parent's storage room. (This is mostly from lack of trying

The Hospital Bag
I went to the doctor on Monday and he said the baby could come any day now. He could come any day, or I could still go another two weeks. Either way, I probably should have already packed a hospital bag. I've been putting it off, which isn't really like me, usually I love to plan ahead. Here is my dilemma in packing a hospital bag:

Ok! I was totally the same with hating when people had 100 bags so I kept it small too. But it is definitely a must-do ASAP becasue when you start going into labor its all you can focus on! Ha! But here are a few things I was glad I brought!
ReplyDelete-Nursing pads and a nursing bra
-A cozy outfit for baby to go home in and 2 blankets. Don't forget socks or a hat!
-Camera!!! And a computer to blog all about your baby as soon as you are coherent enough to do so!
-Razor...(I guess I stayed 4 days so this was something I wish I had!)
-A comfy set of PJ's or a loose sweatsuit that you can wear instead of a hospital gown after you get all showered. And a pair or two of socks!
-I was really glad I brought CHAPSTICK! Its vital!
-Lansinoh (also called Lanolin) for your nips...they will give you some at the hospital if you ask for it (At least they did at UVRMC).:) Stay on top of this stuff...it will save you!
- A going-home outfit for you. And as you know make-up, toothbrush, ect.
-Phone charger, computer charger, camera charger!
-And don't forget to have you husband pack a little bag too!
I think that's everything...If I remember anything else I will let you know! I hope that helps...I am sooo excited for you Courtney! I check everyday to see if he has come! I know you are going to have an awesome birth experience and I can't wait to meet the little guy!! Merry Christmas!!
I totally understand not packing the bag yet since you're using so much of what needs to be packed. My vote would be to write down exactly what you want packed and that way if everything happens super quick or whatnot, someone else can pack for you.
ReplyDeleteAlso, ditto to everything 'Rach' wrote above... although I just wore the hospital gowns the whole time because I'm cool like that :).
A must are nursing pads, and a comfortable nursing bra. I would pack comfortable pajamas, socks, snacks, and basic bathroom stuff. Don't forget a going home outfit for you and Chase. I'm so excited for you!
