So much to celebrate

The first week of July is a big one for us! I'm kind of exhausted now just thinking about it- but it was so much fun so it was worth it! On July 1st Ben and I decided each kid needed some one-on-one time. Ben took Hudson on a little date to Target (to buy him a helmet that he's super excited about) and to ice cream. I took Chase to Cherry Hill with my friend Keely and her baby girl Rae. Keely and I worked at Cherry Hill as lifeguards back in high school and I seriously haven't been back there since my last day of work ten years ago! It was so fun to be back there for fun, not work! And Chase had such a blast, I loved having a little date with him. He was so brave and loved the waterslides, literally giggled the whole way down. He held my hand as we waited in lines and was just all around adorable. Since Hudson arrived 2.5 years ago, I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've done something with just Chase. It was so much fun! It is now one of my favorite memories with him!

On July 2nd we celebrated our seventh anniversary! We went back to the Bountiful Temple, where it all started, to do sealings. Then we had a delicious dinner at Twigs and reminisced about the last seven years and the wild ride we've been on. Life is so different now than we had planned it, but it's still turned out pretty amazing.
We spent the 3rd on a fun outing with my family to the aquarium! The boys (especially Hudson) loved it! He squealed and flapped his little arms at each new display. He was super excited to see "email" (Nemo- the clownfish) and sharks. Outings like this can get a little crazy with the boys, but having several extra adults there made it super enjoyable!

Honestly, this is about the best you can hope for in a group picture that includes three children and the photographer is some random person I asked to take our picture. Oh Hudson.

And as we were leaving the shark tank (which is amazing by the way) we saw this sign- the shark tank was donated by Aunt Kay, my mom's aunt who passed away last fall. We actually see these signs all over the place, but it's always fun to see one and remember her legacy.
After we left the aquarium my dad treated us all to lunch at Habit Burger, which was excellent. Eating out with the kids is always an adventure and of course the boys had us all laughing with their antics. Mostly they just wanted to eat Nana's chocolate shake, and I'm pretty sure she let them eat the whole thing. Those boys know how loved and adored they are by their grandparents, and they get sure take advantage of it. It was an awesome day with (almost) the whole family!

Then it was the 4th of July! We love that holiday! We started it with our traditional red, white and blue breakfast. Chase was happy to pose with whipped cream, I'm pretty sure Hudson was throwing a tantrum at this point, because he didn't want blueberries on his, then he wanted them, then he hated them again, it was a confusing morning for him.
Because of Hudson's awesome mood, I opted to leave him home from the parade and just take Chase. We went to the Layton City parade this year because 1. we are now residents of Layton City and 2. Our old neighbor Tom Winegar was the grand marshall of the parade. It was fun, and super hot, and Chase loved watching from Papa's shoulders.

Then our very favorite 4th of July tradition started! We started with a refreshing swim at my parents pool. Kate's parents joined us, which is fun and the kids love them. As they entered the pool Hudson looked right up and said, "Hey Bwuce!" The boys are little fish and are so much fun in the pool, and Nora was even okay with it this time. After a good long swim we had a delicious BBQ.

Then it was time for fireworks! We did sparklers with the boys, which was fun and frightening. Hudson did try to chase me with a flaming sparkler. Then we settled in on the back porch and watched hundreds of fireworks exploding all over the valley. It's the best view!

On Sunday evening we had Ben's cousin Andrea and her cute little family over for dinner. They are moving to Ohio in two weeks and we wanted to see them one more time before they left. We had a lovely dinner and enjoyed seeing their cute Tate all grown up!
So much fun, family and friends packed into the first five days of July!
