An average week in pictures

Sometimes I'm totally awful about taking pictures. But when Ben is out of town (as he was last week, and again this week) I tend to take a lot so I can send them to him. Partly so he knows what an awesome mom I'm being, and also because he misses the kids and technology is amazing that we can so easily send pictures this way!

Since I had taken so many last week of pretty insignificant things in our life, I thought it really shows our average days!

The weather started to get kind of nice, meaning that the sun was shining but it was still only like 40 degrees outside. We made the most of every minute outside we could and Davis could not have been more thrilled. We spent several mornings out there!
I was feeling like I needed more one on one time with Chase, so one day I had my dad come down to hang with the other two and I ran over to the school to have lunch with Chase. It was fun to be there with him, although he did ask that next time I take him out to lunch instead :) He ate his fun dip in his lunch and it turned his teeth momentarily green, which he thought was hilarious. One of my biggest challenges when Ben is gone is getting good quality time with this kid- since most of the time he's home I have two other awake and very demanding kids (mostly Davis), so this was a good solution.
We had Davis's two year old well child check. I actually somehow completely spaced  his original appointment, which was on Monday morning. Well on Monday morning I even looked at my calendar, and didn't notice his appointment written there. I got home from the gym and felt like I should invite a friend over. This particular women has two little ones (one is Davis's age) and she's shy and doesn't know a lot of people and has had some real health struggles this past year. I invited her over and we played outside with our kids, and still I didn't remember the appointment! This is so unlike me! Usually I remember even without writing stuff down- and I even did write it down! I felt so bad when I missed the appointment, which the office so kindly rescheduled for us. I really felt guilty about it all day, later that night it occurred to me that maybe I was supposed to miss it. Maybe this friend needed us that day more, so maybe I was exactly where I was supposed to be. (Or maybe I'm a tired, frazzled mom who spaced a doctors appointment).

So two days later we actually went to said doctor. Davis was darling there, and the cute nurse Mika, who we know well now, commented on how nice it was to see him healthy. The last time we were there he was so, so sick (back at New Years). He's 30 lbs (75th percentile) and 34 inches (50th percentile) and healthy as can be. He had his last shot and he didn't even cry, just grunted once and asked for a sucker. That's my tough boy!
Some afternoons when Davis is being demanding I just put him in the tub. He can stay happy in there for like an hour. The only downside is that then I have to sit right by the tub for an hour.
Chase colored this for a contest at school. He worked really hard on it and asked me to take a picture to send to dad.
Pi Day! I actually made a lemon pie for a special pi day lunch with my friends Ariane and Lindsay, which was earlier that day. The younger two went with me and they had a blast playing with the other kids while the moms chatted and ate delicious pizza and pie. And then I made chicken pot pie for dinner. Hudson was SO excited about it and apparently Chase doesn't like chicken pot pie. I swear he did.
Hudson's creativity never ceases to amaze me. On this particular day we'd spent several hours outside. He was using sticks to make "groot" from guardians of the galaxy and "groot's house" and then made one into his Harry Potter wand and carried that around for days casting spells. The great thing about this wand is that when it broke (or got lost) it was easily replaceable. I think we have gone through four versions in as many days.

Ben made it back in town Friday night in time for pizza and movie night. Our weekend just didn't stop after that! The big kids and Ben helped Ray and Diane move on Saturday while I did stuff around our house. We trimmed trees in the backyard, Ben had some quality time with the boys, we did dinner as a family before Ben and I headed out to a ward adult activity night (super fun) that night. Sunday was just as busy doing church, playtime as a family, dinner at my parents house, and last minute laundry so he could repack his suitcase for an early Monday morning flight. It was just too short and he was back on the road again. We made good use of the time we did have, we just needed more of it!

Sunday was St Patricks Day, so here we are in our green! Davis was so over the picture idea at this point and just wanted to get to church (he's very excited about church these days). We had a green breakfast (green waffles and green smoothies) and then had corned beef and cabbage for dinner at my parents house. So it was a fun, festive, low-key holiday.

Whew- what a week. Life with three boys is super busy. We love it, but I go to bed totally exhausted every single night. I love the busyness of it all, and love these boys more than I can say.
