Davis turns 2!

Our sweet little baby boy turned 2 on March 4th! It's cliche, but it went way too fast! We all love this baby boy so much and he's been just an amazing addition to our family. He got his first haircut right before his birthday- he totally needed it but it still made me a little sad. While I was cutting his hair, Hudson came in to the room and said "Mom? Did you clear this with dad?"

We had a little family birthday party for him and Papa the day before his birthday. I made this Mickey Mouse cake for him, because he's more obsessed with Mickey Mouse than any other child I know. He loved it!

We spent his actual birthday doing mostly normal things. I spent a good hour playing outside (in the freezing cold) since it was his birthday and he was thrilled. Riding bikes, playing on the skate board, mowing the sidewalk and looking at dogs. He was a happy boy! We made pizza and cookies for dinner (his favorite foods) and he got to open his presents from us. Then later Ray and Diane came over a brought him a sweet gift too. He was well celebrated! He didn't really understand the concept that it was his birthday, but we enjoyed celebrating him.

A couple of things about 2 year old Davis:
  • If you ask him how old he is, he'll say "Not 2!"
  • He loves to be read to, but he has to pick which book. We go in phases of which one is his favorite. The book Chase is reading to him in this picture was a Christmas gift. For 2 months he wanted nothing to do with it. Now it's his favorite.

  •  I had a fun day with just him at the zoo a few days before his birthday. It was the best! He loves animals. He got so excited to see every single animal, babbled excitedly at them, shrieked with glee and was just so happy the whole time. I'd say his favorites were the lions and gorillas, but he loved everything.

  •  He is a pretty good eater. Lately he loves cucumbers, berries, bananas, any kind of bread, pizza, cookies and mostly eats what we eat for all meals. He will chew up apples and carrots and then just spit them out, repeatedly.
  • He loves to be outside. He begs me to take him outside all the time, even when the weather is terrible.
  • Frequently will try to get me to put my shoes on and then pulls me towards the door saying "Store...cookies...store...cookies..."
  • He loves nursery at church and frequently tries to get us to leave during sacrament meeting "toys!"

  • He wakes up so happy each morning! I love getting him out the crib! When I carry him downstairs for breakfast and he sees his brothers at the table he says "Oh! Ders da boys!"
  • He has a serious temper and throws the cutest little tantrums! He makes a sad face that just melts your heart.
  • He still babbles in non-english all the time, but more and more words are becoming clear now. I love seeing language opening up to him.
  • He loves hats. He still wears the bowl on his head, but also frequently wears his little red sox hat.
Happy Birthday my sweet little Davis! We love you more than we can say. You are simply the best little guy and I'm so thankful you came to our family!
